Indeed, King Louis XIV launched its construction with the aim of creating one of the most beautiful places in Paris; he will have an equestrian statue in his effigy right in the heart of it!  It is in 1792 that Napoleon decided to replace the statue of Louis XIV by the famous bronze column...
